AudioBooks

 

How does it work? It’s easy!

  • Make sure that your library card is valid (not expired) and that your account is in good standing (no significant overdues or fines).

  • If you want to listen to an audiobook on a computer, go to https://libbyapp.com, there you will also find detailed instructions for the service (Quick Start Guide) and find information about compatible devices.

  • If you want to listen on a smart phone or tablet, install the free Libby app: Libby for iPhone or Libby for Android

  • Browse the collection and check out the audiobooks you wish. Up to three audiobooks may be checked out at any time and they will be checked back in automatically at the end of the loan period.

  • Download the titles onto your computer, your smart phone, table, or to a compatible MP3-player.  The loan period for audiobooks is 7 or 14 days depending on title.

eBooks

You can download eBooks to your smart phone, tablet, computer or laptop, or transfer the eBook to an e-Reader.

Accessible 24/7, this service is a great way to use the library.

  • If you want to read an eBook on a computer, go to https://libbyapp.com, there you will also find detailed instructions for the service (Quick Start Guide) and find information about compatible devices.

  • If you want to read on a smart phone or tablet, install the free Libby app: Libby for iPhone or Libby for Android

  • Browse the collection and check out the eBooks you wish. Up to three titles may be checked out at any time (this includes audiobooks AND eBooks combined). The loan period for eBooks is 1 or 2 weeks, depending on the title. If finished early, you can return the eBook early so that you are able to check out another item.

  • Download the title onto your device directly and enjoy!

  • After the circulation period has passed, if you try once again to enter into the eBook, you will get a notice stating that the license has expired. You will need to check out the title again.

Streaming Services

Kanopy

The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available at the Pope Memorial Library!

 

Access Kanopy here and sign up to start streaming films instantly.
Films can be streamed from any computer, TV, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

 

Kanopy offers more than 30,000 films, including movies, award-winning documentaries, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, foreign film, art-house, LGBT, and many more- with collections from PBS, The Criterion Collection, and thousands of independent filmmakers.

 

Kanopy Kids offers a wide range of fun and educational programming for Children with focus on age 2-8.

 

To get started you log in with your library card number and phone number on file as password, and then set up a Kanopy account.

 

Once you start watching a film for more than 5 seconds, you are using one of four monthly “play credits.” Any film started counts as a play credit and each library patron has an allotment of four play credits per month.

Hoopla Digital

We are now offering Hoopla! A digital streaming service where library users can:

  • Watch Movies

  • Watch TV Shows

  • Enjoy Educational Content

  • Listen to Audiobooks

  • Listen to Music

  • Read eBooks including comic books, picture books, and fiction books for all ages

 

Books can even be “checked out” at the same time so there’s never a wait-list making it perfect for book clubs! The service is completely free to library members.
